Bluetooth 2.0 Backward Compatibility
There are four versions of Bluetooth, though as of early 2011, version 2 is the most commonly used option. Earlier versions include Bluetooth 1.0 and Bluetooth 1.2, which are significantly slower than version 2.0 and do not have as many security features. However, Bluetooth 2.0 is fully compatible with earlier versions, so if you have a device with 1.0 or 1.2 on it, you can connect it with a device that has Bluetooth 2.0.

Bluetooth 2.0 Forward Compatibility
Although version 4.1 is available, not as many devices use that version or even 3.0 when compared to 2.0. However, Bluetooth SIG has kept backwards-compatibility a priority, so if you have a device with a version higher than 2.0, it can still communicate with Bluetooth 2.0. Again, when connecting with lower-version devices, the data rate and security is capped by the lowest version.

Uses of Bluetooth 2.0
Some of the most common applications of Bluetooth are in mobile devices, like cell phones and MP3 players. Instead of physically plugging these devices into a computer, you're able to sync them wirelessly with Bluetooth and transfer data like calendar items, music files and video clips. Some printers even have Bluetooth capabilities, so you can print using a computer or a mobile device that's not physically connected to the printer.

1). You've heard it before, "safely remove hardware". It pops up every time you plug a device into your computer through some sort of cable. What a lot of people don't know is that if you don't safely remove this hardware, it could throw your entire hard drive out of whack.

2). The first step in safely removing hardware is choosing the disconnect button from any software it might be connected too. This includes cell phone software, music software like iTunes that your iPod might be connected too, or just a device you use for work or school.

3). Once the software is disconnected, you can disconnect the device from the cord.

4). After the device is completely disconnected, remove the cord from the computer. Make sure when removing the cord that you do not pull it out wrong. Pull it straight out and if any prongs or buttons need to be pushed in, make sure they are. If done wrong, you could damage the cord or even worse, damage your computer.

Types

·        Single-purpose hardware diagnostic tools have been designed to check for problems in a particular module or hardware only.
·        Multipurpose tools on the other hand would be programs that while created for one main component, also provide troubleshooting options for other hardware components, though at lesser accuracy.
·        Modular diagnostic tools on the other hand are like a kit containing many single-purpose tools that can quickly be applied to check for issues across the board.

Self-Diagnostic Tools
Certain computer hardware components come with built-in self-diagnostic features that allow for easy assessment of the problem. For example, most network routers come with a command prompt function through which hardware experts can determine what is wrong with the router and resolve the issue through a predefined set of commands. Similarly, many hardware devices also have log functions that automatically log all failure events and automatically correct any mis-alignments.

Use
Computer hardware diagnostic tools find application in a wide range of environments, right from manufacturing testing for quality checks to end-client diagnostic testing for easy resolution of live working problems.

Connecting a cable set top box (STB) to a personal computer (PC) is fairly straightforward, providing the PC has a device that allows it to receive digital television signals -- a digital TV tuner -- installed.

TV Tuner
TV tuners come in two basic forms, internal and external. Internal TV tuners are typically cards that must be installed inside your computer, while external TV tuners typically plug into a universal serial bus (USB) port.

Connection
Assuming that your set top box is already connected to the cable source at the wall jack, connecting the box to your PC involves running a cable from the cable output jack on the box to the input jack on the TV tuner. If you have more than one TV tuner, each tuner needs its own TV signal; you can split the cable signal from the wall jack with a cable splitter, if necessary. 

Software/Hardware
Aside from the physical cable connection between the set top box and the TV tuner inside, or attached to, your PC, you need some software -- and possibly some additional hardware -- to control the way TV pictures are displayed and to change TV channels. In some cases, you can attach a remote control that allows you to change channels directly from your PC.

Visual display units or VDUs, are the monitor part of a desktop computer, which allow users to see the information they work with.

Types
Three types of computer monitorsor visual display units are available. These are the LCD flat panel, the CRT or cathode ray tube monitor and the TFT-LCD monitor. Magnetic Fields
All electronic devices emit magnetic and electrical fields to some degree. Older visual display units that contain tubes inside the display screen have higher magnetic fields than flatscreen display units. Additionally, display units with internal tubes also emit low-intensity X-rays and non-ionizing radiation. Yet the radiation is quite minimal and not considered a health risk. Flatscreen display units, on the other hand, have no internal tubes and emit zero X-rays or radiation.

Sizes
Visual display units come in a variety of sizes. Monitors are available in 15-inch, 17-inch, 19-inch and 21-inch styles. The size of the monitor is the size of the screen, not the size of the entire monitor. Fifteen-inch monitors are sufficient for casual computer users, while 17-inch screens are more acceptable for individuals that use their computers frequently. The 19-inch and 21-inch monitors, on the other hand, were created for individuals who use their computers for design and editing.


Uses of a Netgear Wireless USB Adapter

Models
Netgear makes three different categories of USB adapters: simple-sharing, work-and-play and high-performance. The simple-sharing models are basic USB wireless adapters that have a straightforward installation procedure, low price and straightforward usage. Work-and-play models are compatible with wireless N networks for faster download speeds, along with backward compatibility with wireless G. High-performance Netgear models utilize dual band, so any wireless interference is minimized. The high-performance models are the most expensive of the three categories.

Add an HDTV Tuner

With the addition of an HDTV tuner, you can turn your computer into a personal home theater. Installing one will give you access to free over-the-air high-definition signals as well as the ability to program and record television shows to your hard drive to watch whenever you want. 5). Connect a cable line to the HDTV tuner on the back of your computer.

1). Connect the USB HDTV tuner to an open USB slot on your computer.

2). Install the software that came with the tuner.

3). Connect a cable line to the tuner.
