CES 2012 roundup of the day

Still more news coming in from CES 2012, should be a few more days until the CES news flow fades out.

ASUS Show Off New ROG X79 Boards, A Monster Workstation Board and WiFi Innovations for the Home (Video) at Futurelooks
ASUS gets bigger every year and the number of things they have to show off at each show grows. They almost need their own show its so crazy. However, we did find a few new things that computer lovers like yourselves will want to key in on from gaming and overclocking, to professional workstations, and in the home. We had a chat with JJ Guerrero, who you may know from the NewEgg YouTube Channel and the companys own channel, and asked him to show us his newest and best of the bunch.

NZXT Shows Off Phantom 410 in New Colors and the Switch 810 Hybrid Full Tower Chassis (Video) at Futurelooks.
Futurelooks has been following NZXT for a very long time. Ever since interviewed the companys front man, Johnny Hou, we realized just how hard it was for a fledgling company to do what they wanted to do and have people accept it. Now that the company is a little mature, Johnny and his team are finally getting the opportunity to create the things theyve wanted to create from the very beginning. The first was the Phantom. And now NZXT has a new flagship case called the Switch 810. With some help from NZXT in Las Vegas, weve put together this look at this new case and more.

CORSAIR Unleashes the 550D Silent Case, the 300R Sub $100 Case and SSD Caching For Every Platform (Video) at Futurelooks
Everyone knows that CORSAIR has been going nuts creating cases that seem to defy their price points, which has caused a huge stir in the industry, but in a good way. Cases are so good these days that its hard to buy a bad one at really any price point. Thats why CORSAIR is surging ahead with a couple more cases that fill in the small gaps in their line up. They also have an SSD that gives caching for all platforms.

MSI Shows Off HD 7970 GPU, New Cloud Overclock App, the X79 Big Bang XPower II Board and More (Video)
Futurelooks drops by MSI to see what they have going on at CES. While many of the products like the HD 7970 and X79 Big Bang Xpower II have already been announced, it was nice to see these products in person and to get some additional information about their design and why they did what they did with them. However, the more interesting products were actually not on camera and well have a quick blurb about those as soon as you finish up with the video.

CES 2012: Mad Catz @ ThinkComputers.org
Mad Catz has made gaming accessories for years. Although recently, MadCatz has seriously committed to expanding their product line. With the Street Fighter X Tekken VS Arcade Stick, Xbox 360 Primer Headset, Cyborg F.R.E.Q. Headset, and the MLG Pro Gaming Circuit controller. But Mad Catzs new products arent clones of whats already available, each product offers something new. For instance, the Street Fighter X Tekken VS Arcade Stick is the exact dimensions of the Japanese arcade counterpart with better build quality, the Xbox 360 Primer Headset is officially licensed and runs at 5.8GHz, Cyborg F.R.E.Q. has a detachable mic and a swappable USB or 3.5mm adapter, so it is usable on any device. Finally, the MLG Pro Gaming Circuit Controller allows you to swap the thumbsticks, and d-pad into any configuration you want. Alex from Mad Catz provides us with a thorough walkthrough of the above products.

CES 2012 in Pictures: Part 2
As a follow-up to last week's CES special feature and coverage, here are more of the products we observed and played with, along with photos taken during our journey to the event. As you've surely noticed, mobile tech consumed the event with seemingly every major company unveiling smartphones, tablets or ultrabooks. Nonetheless, we managed to lay hands on plenty of awesome PC hardware from the likes of Samsung, Silverstone, MSI, Razer, Roccat, Toshiba, Gigabyte and more...

CES 2012: Razer Fiona Tablet Project @ Benchmark Reviews
As you can imagine, tablets were everywhere at CES 2012. They ranged in size from under 7" to over 10", from Andriod 2.1 to Ice Cream Sandwich to Windows 8. There was even an Android watch. But no matter how many tablets I saw, they were all pretty much cut from the same die; even the waterproof ones in the fishtanks. They were all built on SOC processors ranging anywhere from single- to quad-core designs from either Intel, NVIDIA, Qualcomm, Texas Instruments, Samsung or some other manufacturer. None of them had much potential in the world of x86 gaming. None of them except for one. Here at Benchmark Reviews, I'm pretty excited about Razer's Project Fiona.

CES 2012 Roll-Up: HotHardware Features From The Show
As is always the case, CES 2012 was a complete blur of big product announcements, bleeding-edge technology and a mass of humanity clamoring to see it all. Our coverage of the event and the various product announcements came so fast and furious that, unless you were checking the page every few minutes (not a bad idea actually), you probably missed at least a few highlights. Fear not, as we're going to aggregate all of the major product announcements to hit our news channel, here in one big roll-up on the following pages...

Since Thunderbolt was very popular in the external storage markets for CES 2012, ioSafe decided their new Thunderbolt Rugged Portable drive should be put to the ultimate test of its name. So the guys over at ioSafe justifiably used a tesla coil to generate nearly one million volts and zapped the drive to see if it could take a direct lightening strike.

CyberPowerPC Shows us Their Black Mamba and NZXT Switch 810 at CES 2012
Our friends at CyberPowerPC were showing some seriously decked-out gaming rigs this year at CES 2012. To be honest, we've always had good experiences with their products here in the lab but the systems on display at CES showcased very impressive build quality, immaculate wire-routing along with impeccable pipe-work for their water cooling setups. On display were several systems, including the rather bad-ass Fang III Series Black Mamba; a monster of a system that's of course super-charged with an over-the-top component configuration. The company was also showcasing a system built with NZXT's just-launched Switch 810 Gaming Chassis.

CES 2012 coverage at OCC
Diamond also had its Powerline Internet AV Kits and Mini Speakers on display. The Powerline Internet AV Kit allows you to connect your Internet-ready devices easily without the hassel of wiring. It connects by simply plugging an adapter into an AC wall outlet and then you can connect it to your router. You can then plug the other adapter into another AC outlet somewhere else in your home to extend the range of your LAN without the hassle of running wires everywhere.

It features spring-loaded covers that kill the power when closed to prevent wasted juice and is the first UL-listed device of its kind, a necessary requirement for insurance-conscious homeowners. OWC also showed us its new lightning fast solid state drives (SSDs) and its expandible storage device primary meant for Mac Mini.
