Tips When Calling Video Game Tech Support @ OCModShop

OCModShop provides help on how to deal with video game tech support, you can read it over here.
As a representative of one of the largest video game makers in the world, I am on the telephone with the good people of the United States to help them get their problems resolved. I would like to say that most of the time these calls are clear and straightforward, but sadly they are not. We have all the tools to help you, but I have found that it is usually the consumer that ends up making things difficult.

This article is intended to help you poor souls who need support with their game console. If you follow these rules, then everything will be fine, and if you dont then things will probably be difficult for you.

Intel Ivy Bridge chipsets to support USB 3.0

Bright Side of News writes Intel's 7-series chipsets for Ivy Bridge will offer native USB 3.0 support:
Today we come with some mixed news about Intel's new 7X series chipsets for Ivybridge. As you can see in the table below, there will be several different chipsets for Ivybridge as Intel traditionally makes three for a certain chip. On top of that, there are a few very interesting developments in the way of USB 3.0, SATA 3.0 (6G) and PCIe. When it comes to USB 3.0, Intel is finally going to support USB 3.0 natively which will save motherboard vendors money when building Intel chipsets and hopefully make the boards overall less complicated to design. In addition to that, we will hopefully see better USB 3.0 performance and possibly less variation between different USB 3.0 controllers that we have now.

Texas Instruments talks Windows 8 support

FUD Zilla spoke to Texas Instruments about Windows 8, you can read it over here.
The nice chat starts little bit like this. With respect to Windows 8 on the OMAP platform, the team here at TI is excited to work with Microsoft. Overall, most vendors today accelerate audio and video, but from our perspectiveits time to move past the speeds-and-feeds way of thinking. Instead, through OMAP, we focus on offloading processing tasks to maximize the any devices efficiency.

This is how Texas Instruments elaborate their focus for Windows 8. Remember OMAP 5 has two slower processor cores and two high-end Cortex A15 cores. These two Cortex M4 processors will deal with less demanding stuff. This is what Nvidia is doing with its Kal El, incorporating a slow 500MHz processor for less demanding task and four Cortex A9 processors for heavy lifting. It looks like this is the way to go for ARM manufacturers and this level of flexibility, not seen in the x86 world, offers clear advantages in power efficiency...

iBoot 2.5 - Unified Graphics Support

type="html">

Today, iBoot has received a major update.  No longer will there be multiple versions of iBoot, but one unified version for any supported Intel CPU with either ATI or NVIDIA graphics.  The new version is a permanent replacement for all previous versions of iBoot, including iBoot-NVIDIA, iBoot-ATI, iBoot-ATI-5xxx, and iBoot-Supported.

We've rolled in the latest pre-release version of Chameleon 2.0 RC5, and for ethernet, the latest beta version of Lnx2Mac's RealtekRTL81xx.kext.  For desktops and laptops using unsupported Intel CPUs and graphics, a legacy version of iBoot can be downloaded here.

As always, follow the iBoot + MultiBeast method for installation.  Please note that iBoot is an installation tool, and is not intended as a substitute for installing Chameleon to your hard drive or EFI partition.

If iBoot has helped you, please consider a contribution to support further development.  Thanks in advance, and enjoy!

UPDATE: iBoot 2.5.1 now includes 10.5.0 kernel and updated USB support for 10.6.5.

CustomBeast Now Available for NVIDIA 4xx Graphics Cards + USB 3.0 Support

type="html">
CustomBeast is now available for NVIDIA 4xx graphics cards!  Supported specs now include any Gigabyte H55, P55, or X58 motherboard with any NVIDIA graphics card.

In other news we have made some changes to CustomBeast.  During our testing we have found that the MacPro3,1 smbios.plist provides the best performance.  Because of this, we are removing the option for System Identification.  As an added bonus, we will now be including USB 3.0 drivers for supported motherboards.
